  • Before we begin:
    • Think about how you would like to use your garden.  Perhaps for entertaining friends,  informal parties or BBQs in the summer? A place for the kids to play or maybe just a place for you to potter around, read a book or catch a quick forty winks in the sun?  Thinking carefully about what you would like from your garden is a key starting point. What do you currently like about your garden if anything and what would you be keen to see the back of?  Do you have the time and inclination to maintain it or would you prefer it to be as low maintenance as possible?  Last but not least, think about how much you would be prepared to spend on your garden. Being clear in your own mind about your budget is a critical part of the whole process.
  • What next:
    • The first meeting at your home will take about an hour and a half. At that meeting we will not only walk round your garden but will also discuss in detail what you want from it and your likes and dislikes on everything from types of plants to colour schemes. This allows us to put together a summary of what you want and need from your new garden. We will send that in writing to you together with our fee and upon acceptance of that we can move on and start the design process.
  • Site survey and planning:
    • We will do a full survey of your garden which includes taking levels, soil samples, utilities, climate, access and orientation and photos of the site.  Once the survey and analyses are complete we will work on a draft plan for consideration.  It will be drawn to scale and will include choices of materials, style of planting you would like and any special features you have requested.  Where required it will be supported by a colour mood board made up of a series of images that will help convey the look and feel of the garden. Optional 3D drawings can be provided as required.   Once the draft plan has been approved and materials and any special features have been decided upon, we will arrange to meet and discuss the final design with you.  A hand drawn colour copy of this will be left with you once the final payment has been made.
  • Garden build:
    • We can advise you on reliable high quality contractors that we work with regularly to undertake your garden build. We can also co-ordinate and monitor the project if you wish and will supply both black and white copies of the final design and detailed technical specifications to the contractors on which they will base their quotations.
  • Planting Plan:
    • It is important that the planting chosen for your garden not only complements the design but is carefully thought out to take account of a number of factors. Aspect, frost pockets, wind tunnels, boggy or very dry areas in the garden can cause the untimely demise of plants that don’t like those sorts of conditions. Thought needs to be put into this and at the same time texture, form, colour and seasonality need to be combined to add the finishing touches.  The planting plan will show not only the plant varieties but the numbers needed of each and where they are to be placed in the garden. A set of care instructions for the ongoing maintenance of your plants is included in the price of the planting plan.
  • Planting Service:
    • We offer a full supply and planting service. We buy our plants from highly reputable and good quality plant nurseries and are happy to organise the purchase and supply of plants for your garden if you wish.  We are also happy to plant up your garden for you, with you or simply leave that up to you.
  • Aftercare:
    • We can recommend reliable and reputable garden maintenance contractors if you wish.  We will also arrange periodic future visits to your garden to discuss and advise on a variety of matters, ensuring your continued enjoyment of your garden.
